New book available now.The book tells the story of a life from birth through childhood, independence, isolation, confrontation, desolation, a journey through deserts and across rivers and thunderstorms, always hoping to feel the rays of the sun shining through the morning mist at the end of the night. The characters carrying the story forward with each image are different, but the story is one. The story of life, of dreams, of struggle, of resilience, of making it through the hardness life throws on all of us.
Male Lion in blowing wind, Serengeti, Tanzania
Fight for dominance, Amboseli, Kenya
Encounter on the dry lake, Amboseli, Kenya
I am a wildlife photographer specializing in African wildlife. I moved to Kenya when I was 26 following my passion for the endless Savannah of East Africa and its extraordinary inhabitants. After a few years of working with base in Nairobi, I moved to the Masai Mara to become a full time photographer and safari guide. My limited edition fine-art prints have been exhibited around the world and my images featured on magazines, calendars, books and have been supporting conservation projects in Africa for many years.
Some of the highlights of my work have been documenting in depth the life of the most enigmatic and elusive feline in Africa, the Caracal or following the majestic tusker Tim through the last ten years of his life. Some of these images are featured in this book.
My photographic style focuses on capturing the animals’ emotions and spirit, through the use of light and elements such as dust, mist, rain, or by setting them in amazing landscapes and under dramatic African skies. All these characteristics feature prominently in this book.
Portrait of Lion in last light, Serengeti, Tanzania
Three Cheetahs and thunderstorm, Masai Mara, Kenya
A walk in the enchanted forest, Mana Pools, Zimbabwe
My first book “Light and Dust” has been published in 2015 by Marsilio, part of the Rizzoli group, and has been distributed worldwide. It is now completely sold-out. The book featured a portfolio of images spanning my favourite subjects and styles. Photographer Art Wolfe commented on his blog: “Sometimes I come across a book that just blows me away. Light and Dust by Federico Veronesi does just that. At 26 Federico relocated to Kenya and has been photographing there intensively ever since. His book is a testament to what great photographer can do when they have a true passion and focus on a particular part of the world”.
